upkeep more than income
Jul 13 2008, 7:48 AM EDT
I have gotten myself into a situation where my upkeep costs are greater than my income, and I have tried destroying buildings (except mines) and getting rid of all my soldiers, but this seems to just be making the situation worse. Is there any way of releasing troops other than soldiers, other than just getting weaker and weaker until someone else kills them off and captures enough of my land that I can start taking on small kingdoms and maybe making gold that way? I know this is bottom feeding, but I don't see any other way out.

IMHO, you'll simply have to grow to improve your income. It should be easy as your army is stronger than your acreage normally allow. Moreover, it's useless to destroy buildings unless you transform them to mines. Even if the game seems to imply than free land is making money since built lands don't, it's not true. Free land is making as money as a fort or a barrack. Mines are the only land who's making more money (10 gold for a "normal" acre ; 40 for a mine).
