Yeah, I had 200,000 elites earlier today, and now I'm down to 199,240 and I haven't been attacked once! And my income is not anywhere near the negatives...

I'd do it like so

-If you're going after a specific target

>1-Spy to see what your up against

>2-Plan for an army well above what you'll need to defeat them, and save up the gold.
Only buy what you need for now. Put off buying the entire army until just before you attack, to save on upkeep.
You'll need an army bigger than you initially might think because
A. While you're accumulating gold for the attack, they will also get bigger
B. Your army will decrease with each attack and retal

>3-Make sure you can afford to make 25% land in to barriers.
(you could have this from the beginning, but the land is more useful as mines/barracks while building your army)

-When you think it's time to attack

>4-Spy again, because if it took you a long time to get enough resources for the attack, they will have changed as well.
If they've gotten much stronger than expected, then go back to step 2.

>5- If you can take them, buy your troops, and convert 25% land in to barriers (75% magic defence)

>6-Attack



Other notes
1- Chose an opponent about the same size as you as
A. If they're big, they may get too big too attack while you're prepairing.
B. If they're small, you may only get a few attacks before they're too small to attack (Although, they will become too small to retaliate also).


Some thought could also go in to incorporating the "barrack cycling" method.

e.g
Starting with 100% goldmines, just accumulate gold. Once there is enough gold for the army (at half price troops) and to convert 50% land (total land x 250)
-destroy 25% mines
-build 25% barracks
-build troops (leave enough gold for 25 barriers)
-destroy 25% barracks
-build 25% barriers
I've calculated that to be economically viable, you'll have to have 100% gold mines for 28 turns.

It's more a measure of recent attacks, than your actual resource count.

When you're attacked, your alert rating increases each time, but your resource level only increases if the attack on you was successful, and you lose land/gold.

So if you are on high alert, and plenty of resources, it means you've been attacked, but managed to stop them getting anything, but if you're on high alert, and "stripped" it means the attackers got through each time.

I'm not certain what it mean in terms of game mechanics, but I think that the worse rating your resources are, the less the get (where as the alert level is how likely you are to successfully defend)
